Dear 6th graders,

Here are the guidelines for your next project “The Providence of God”.  Through this project, you will:

  • identify Scripture passages that give us comfort in God’s love and care
  • reflect on God’s providence in your own life and in situations that others have experienced around the world
  • pass on the message of God’s providence to someone in your life who is facing difficulties/struggles at this time

THE PROVIDENCE OF GOD PROJECT – 45 points

(Due February 12th)

Guidelines:
1. Cover (3pts) – Title, your name, date, pictures/quotations showing God’s love and care

2. Scripture Quotations (7 pts) – Find and copy at least 5 quotations or passages from the Old Testament that speak about God’s love and care for His people.
o Write a 5-sentence paragraph explaining how these Scripture quotations make you feel.

3. God’s Providence in My Own Life (10 pts) – Describe an event or series of events in your life when you knew that God was taking care of you. Include drawings/pictures. (10 sentences)

4. God’s Providence in the World (10 pts) – Describe a situation reported on in the news (TV, newspaper, or internet) that reveals proof of God’s providence for the person/people involved. Include drawings/pictures. (10 sentences)

5. “Let Go, Let God” (10pts) – Write a letter to a relative or friend, encouraging them to trust God and allow Him to take care of them in their physical, emotional, or spiritual difficulties/struggles. Include comforting words from Scripture (make sure to include the Scripture references, i.e., Psalm 62:2-3).

6. Prayer of Thanksgiving (5pts) – Write a 6-8 sentence prayer thanking God for showing His love and care for you throughout your life.

Dear 7th graders,

You should already be well into reading the Gospel of John and one of the synoptic Gospels, preparing your assignments for your project.

Please remember that every FRIDAY, I will ask to see TWO parent signatures on your Project Checklist to let me know that you have completed your chosen sections for that week.
