REMINDER:

All short stories must be submitted ONE WEEK after your conference.

Final drafts must…

  • be typed
  • be double-spaced
  • use Times New Roman, font size 12
  • have 1-inch margins
  • include a TITLE PAGE (see sample below) with illustration, full name, story title, and publishing date

* NOTE:  You need to turn in your 2nd draft and Writer’s Checklist with your Final Draft! (Please do not staple them together.  Staple the pages of your Final Draft together – no plastic covers, please!)

7th ENGLISH – Letter to Self PERSUASION ASSIGNMENT

Instructions:

You will write a persuasive letter to “Present Self” from your “Older Self”, advising a change in behavior. Make sure you provide THREE reasons why you must change, and include THREE facts/examples for each reason. (Keeping in mind the theme from A Christmas Carol!)

Objectives

Students will:

  • develop and support a position on a particular behavior that needs to be changed by writing a persuasive letter to themselves.
  • use a guide to help them organize their persuasive ideas into written form.
  • outline a persuasive piece that expresses points in a clear, logical sequence so the reader can follow their reasoning.
  • publish their persuasive piece as a letter.

  • presents a writer’s thoughts about ideas or experiences

You will write a 5-paragraph reflective essay answering the following questions:

  1. What do you do now to protect the Earth? Do you think you do enough?
  2. What more can you do to protect the Earth?
  3. Why is it important to make an effort to protect our planet?

The Final Draft of the essay is due on Wednesday, April 30
